Purl Chicks

Simple pattern scarf!

Simple pattern scarf!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!  Now that everyone has received their Christmas scarves, I can finally post them up!!!!  My Aunt Katherine is modeling the scarf that I knit for Ashley, my sister, who was too busy playing my cousin’s new Wii, to model for me 😦  Anyway, this is a great scarf to knit as your first patterned scarf.  It is very easy and all you have to do is knit and purl.  This is my favorite yarn so far…. It is made by Araucania and is called Aysen Color 808 70% Merino Wool, 20% Alpaca, 10% Silk.  It is multicolored and delicious!  Click here to view yarn or to buy! 191 yards per skein and I used about 2.

Needles: Size 9

Cast on 18 stitches (or any number of even stitches for desired width)

Pattern:

Row 1: (k1, p1)  repeat to end.
Row 2: (k2, p2) repeat to end.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until desired length.
Attach tassels!  Click here for help with tassels (Tassel part is at the end of the video!)

Easy Lacy Scarf

Lacy Scarf

For my last Christmas gift, I am knitting this lacy scarf 🙂  I am so proud of the results that I am carrying it around in my purse to show to everybody!  The amazing thing, is how easy it is.  It looks much more complicated than it actually is.  I used the pattern from “101 Designer one-skein Wonders”  called “Marialis End-to-End Scarf” and the yarn I am using is Blue Sky Alpacas: sport weight 100% baby alpaca color 512 a beautiful burgandy.  I am using US 5 circular needles.  It is basically a “feather and fan” lace stitch with a seed stitch for the border.  You can find a similar pattern for free at Louet, but the free pattern is for a shawl that is about 3 times as wide.  I would definately suggest buying the book.  It is my favorite so far with lots of easy, quick knitting patterns (hats, scarves, socks, shawls, bags, headbands) all perfect for last minute Christmas gifts!
