Fastest Scarf!

Fastest Scarf!

This is the fastest scarf and it turned out great!  It was a last minute gift for my Aunt Katherine.  I wanted to knit a quick chunky scarf and I thought she might like it 🙂 It is made with extra soft and  luxurious yarn called Debbie Bliss alpaca silk aran 60m/50g the color is claret no. 11. I used 2.5 skeins. Each skein was 71 yds.

Materials: Size US 15 needles.

Pattern:
Cast on 12 stitches.
Knit 8 rows.
On 9th row knit elongated stitches across to end (just wrap yarn around one extra time when knitting) It will appear that there are twice as many stitches.  When knitting the next row, only knit the first stitch and then let the second or double stitch go to form the length of the elongated stitch and keep repeating.  Please see video “Elongated stitch for help”  It is very easy!
Repeat 8 rows of knit and then one row of the elongated knit stitch until scarf is desired length.
Attach tassels.

And your done!

Easy Lacy Scarf

Lacy Scarf

For my last Christmas gift, I am knitting this lacy scarf 🙂  I am so proud of the results that I am carrying it around in my purse to show to everybody!  The amazing thing, is how easy it is.  It looks much more complicated than it actually is.  I used the pattern from “101 Designer one-skein Wonders”  called “Marialis End-to-End Scarf” and the yarn I am using is Blue Sky Alpacas: sport weight 100% baby alpaca color 512 a beautiful burgandy.  I am using US 5 circular needles.  It is basically a “feather and fan” lace stitch with a seed stitch for the border.  You can find a similar pattern for free at Louet, but the free pattern is for a shawl that is about 3 times as wide.  I would definately suggest buying the book.  It is my favorite so far with lots of easy, quick knitting patterns (hats, scarves, socks, shawls, bags, headbands) all perfect for last minute Christmas gifts!
